Choosing wheels
By Bolt PatternDifferent wheels have different bolt patterns. Some of them have a double pattern, which means that they can fit on two types of patterns.
Most rims are represented using bolt pattern codes like for example 4/100.
4 - represents the number of bolts that are used to fit the rim to the car.
100 - is the diameter of the bolt circle - the imaginary circle that the bolts form, measured in millimeters.
You can find out the diameter of the bolt circle on 4 and 6 bolt cars by measuring the distance between the center of two diametrically opposite bolts. On 5 bolt wheels you can approximate the diameter by measuring the distance between a the center of a bolt and a diametrically opposite point on the imaginary bolt circle.
By Season
SUMMER
Summer is definitely alloy wheel season. This time of the year they only have advantages: low weight, high durability, great heat dissipation and, of course, the looks.
During the summer you can go for bigger and wider wheels fitted with low profile tires. This will improve the performance of your car as it gives you better acceleration, tighter braking and more stability.
WINTER
During the cold season we recommend steel wheels. We recommend you to use wheels of exactly the same diameter specified by the car maker and maybe narrower by a few millimeters. This will give you a higher profile and narrower tire which is the best solution for winter conditions.
However, if you choose to keep your alloy rims you should know they require special care during the winter.
TO BE AVOIDED
It's better not to mount the summer and winter tires on the same wheels. Given that you would repeat that twice a year, your tires will get deteriorated faster. Instead, we recommend using two separate sets of wheels.
