Advice
- Check the tire pressure regularly, at least once every two weeks, only when the tires are cold.- Deflate your tires only when they are cold.
- Check the car maker's specifications for pressure indications on different tire positions and your style of driving.
- Use air tight valve caps only.
- For breaking in your new tires it's better to drive the first 300km with moderate speed. H/V/W/Y/Z tires require moderate speed only on the first 100km.
- Avoid sidewalk curb impacts, asphalt holes or any other kinds of obstacles.
- Check the wheel balance and alignment periodically to avoid irregular tire wear.
- Avoid using over worn tires as this increases the risk of accidents. Check the tread depth and make sure it is at least 1.6mm deep. We recommend paying special attention from a 2mm depth in the summer and 2.5mm during winter. Most importantly, do not in any circumstance use over worn tires.
- Rotate your tires (change their position on the car) to promote even wear, without crossing them out.
- In case of uneven wear on one of the tires, check for the cause and remove it before changing the tire.
- If you only replace two tires, mount the new ones in the rear, no matter if your car has front or rear wheel drive.
- When using temporary spare tires follow the instructions specified in the car manual. Use that tire until you get to the first car service where you can get back to using the regular tire. The maximum speed when driving with the temporary spare tire is 80kmph.
- When you change your summer tires with winter tires you must change all four of them.
- The average life span of a tire is 5 years. You can see a tire is getting old by the cracks on the tire wall or by the tire losing its shape.
- Avoid over loading. Keep in regard the tire load indexes.
- Keep tires inflated at optimum pressure.
- Don't drive faster than the tire speed index allows you to.
- Don't use tires of a different size than the one specified in your car registration without consulting a specialist first.
- Never use tubes for tubeless tires.
- Never use hydrocarbons to clean tire walls.
- Avoid using tire chains on snow clear asphalt.
